Looking for Writers

We are constantly looking for new writers to provide content for Lifted Magazine, a digital magazine targeted at Generation X & Y-ers (18-35 years old) with a Christian bias. We are always looking for those with a positive outlook and fresh ideas to share.

There is no paid compensation, only recognition and publicity via the magazine. As the magazine grows, compensation will be considered should the content merit. This position is well suited to a self-motivated individual who is looking to grow their portfolio and has many ideas of their own to share. We rarely insist on what should be covered by writers but instead let them write about what interests them at the moment.

We are seeking articles on the following subjects (word counts are approximate and may be flexible; unless otherwise stated all articles – excluding fiction – should be 1000+ words) :

• Faith: scripture insights (1000+ words), personal testimonies (1000+ words), devotions (250-500 words), product reviews (i.e. bibles, books – 250 words), etc
• Dating & Relationships: advice, tips, experiences (i.e. with dating sites, dating as a Christian), etc.
• College & Career: tips on getting jobs, life in the workforce, how you got where you are today, college related stories (fitting in there, college life, transitions), (articles on parenting will also be considered here, esp. regarding balancing children and life/school/work), etc
• Travel: city guides (in depth – 2,000+ words), hot spots, unique places, experiences, gear, etc.
• Food: recipes, gourmet or simple cooking tips & experiences (1000+ words), product reviews (250 words), etc
• Entertainment: reviews of books (250 words), CDs (250 words), and movies (500-1000 words), special events & concerts (500-1000 words), etc
• Fiction: short stories (at least 1000 words), poetry

• Election 2008: non-biased coverage of events, debates, etc. Overviews of candidates to inform voters. Why should people vote?, etc
• Global Warming: Concerns, advice, living "green," reduce your footstep, etc

Submissions can be attached in Word doc, .rtf or .txt format. Word Perfect files cannot be read so please do not send them. The submission can also be copied as text into the email but please try to be sure that special characters do not get converted.

Should you be submitting something about an event, concert, etc. and have photos to accompany the article, they are also appreciated and used when possible.

Deadlines

These dates are the cut-off dates for when submissions will be accepted. If you would like to submit something for a specific issue, you may but it is not necessary to wait until this date to submit your work. We accept submissions year-round and will add them into the correct issue time frame if necessary. Please submit articles to articles AT liftedmag . com

Looking for Comic or Anime Artists

In addition, a comic or anime artist is desired to supply a monthly strip and/or single comics. We are willing to look at any variety of topics for the strips include humor, social criticism, relationships, politics, travel, etc.

Looking for Graphic Artists

We always need new banner ads in image and Flash formats. If you are interested to contribute your time and ideas for this please contact us. We need banners for individual areas of the site like the travel guides and our Iberian Peninsula trip as well as banners for our Affiliates to utilize that encompass the entire site.
