As the bus made its way through the mountains, you could hear different ones saying "Oh, look over there!" , "Ya'll, look!". It was the first time most of them had ever been in the mountains. One young woman was taking pictures of everything....she must have taken 100+ pictures in about an hour.
Up ahead was a scenic overlook...and everyone wanted to stop. Again words of wonder and awe could be heard from everyone. The sign said that on a clear day you could see three different states. Now that is impressive!
Everyone got back on the bus, the appreciation of the scenery was evident in their conversations. They all began looking forward to the next overlook. They did not have to wait long. There was a difference this time as they approached the rails of the overlook -- no one was talking at all. A reverent hush had overtaken them for in front on them was a glimpse of what heaven must look like. Far below was a lake; above the lake on the far end was a low rain cloud and the most beautiful rainbow that anyone had ever seen. A complete rainbow and they were above it looking down.
No one wanted to leave, they wanted to stay until the rainbow 'left', but they knew that they had to go on. Inside the bus, there were all kinds of words used to describe what they had witnessed. Among them were awesome, breathtaking, once in a lifetime. Everyone was full of praise for the experience they had shared.
This is how I feel about what God does for me daily. Yes, He saved my soul. Praise His Holy Name! But daily, moment by moment, He sustains me. He protects me. He comforts me. He lifts me up. He lets me breathe and live. It is only in Him that I can find contentment. I have to stop and think of the last time that I shared my praise of Him as openly and excitedly as the people on the tour bus did on seeing His creations. May God forgive me for not lifting Him up in praise with every breath that I take. Praise God for giving me grace when I deserved judgment! Praise His Holy Name for loving me enough to send His only Son to die for MY sins. Praise His Holy Name for all the blessings that He continues to cover me with daily. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp. For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands. How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts! (Psa 92:1-5 NIV)
Come, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, who stand by night in the house of the LORD! Lift up your hands to the holy place, and bless the LORD. (Psa 134:1,2 NRSV)
Praise the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power; praise Him for His surpassing greatness. Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. (Psa 150:1-6 NIV)
Praise His Name for allowing me one more day to share with all of you! |
