Keilah: Humble Introductions

by Tiffany Simpson

Since 2003, Keilah’s members Austin Curry, Cannon Hearne, and Travis Hearne have been using the incredible musical talents God gave them to produce flowing acoustic sounds which will inspire you and make you want to jam along. And their efforts have already been recognized by the Gospel Music Association in 2004 when they named “Evangeline” the Song of the Year.

Somehow when I listen to this CD, I want to be sitting around a campfire with these guys and singing along to “You Can Overcome”...or at a convention with the entire crowd belting out the lyrics to “Listen”. “Light & Strength” is another beautiful song of praise which would fit perfectly into your morning praise and worship service.

They’ve compared themselves to Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Jars of Clay, and Caedmon’s Call and I can certainly hear the resemblance. But their acoustic sound gives them a basic, almost country music sound which I can only compare to Mercy Me. You can’t overlook this band’s ability to harmonize perfectly and the subtle addition of the harmonica to songs like “The Angel & The Prophet” is just perfect.

Overall this is a great mellow and carefree album to be enjoyed by all.
